Meet the founder
I started Life Beyond the Lab Coat because I couldn’t find the conversations I needed when I was navigating my own career.
​
Like so many others, my path didn’t follow a straight line. I trained in one field (Forensic Science actually!), pivoted into another (a short stint as a science teacher), and questioned myself more times than I can count.
​
For a long time, I assumed that meant I was behind.
​
But the more people I spoke to, the more I realised something reassuring: almost everyone feels that way at some point.
​
Almost everyone has doubted themselves.
Almost everyone has pivoted.
Almost everyone has quietly wondered if they’re the only one who hasn’t figured it out.
​
We just don’t tend to say it out loud... so I created a space where we do.
​
If you’ve ever questioned your career, wondered what else is out there, or felt like everyone else got the instruction manual you somehow missed, you’re certainly not alone.
​
And to everyone who’s already listening, sharing, supporting and sending messages saying “I needed this” …thank you. You’ve reminded me that I’m not the only one who wanted these conversations either.
